Hello Everyone!
Let me say GREAT JOB in November!! I really missed all of you but felt so thankful for having such a great team. I hope you are all well and it sounds like much is going on at Crossroads. Sounds like the move date is just around the corner now. I can't wait to hear about it. I will be home very soon and can't wait to see you.

Ok, I did this schedule in a vacuum, so this is only a draft. Please call Jennifer or Hollie if you have any issue with the dates.

Take care and be blessed,
Pastor Matt

Hello Everyone,

The November schedule is up. With the holidays coming up it is very important thay you let somebody know if you are going to be out. Many people will be out at different times making it tougher to cover each other, please just let us know as soon as you do. =)

Some big news this month!
First is that I will be leaving for Afghanistan very near the 13th of this month, so keep Hollie and the boys in your prayers. I will be there for 60 days so that's not that bad. I will be keeping a regular blog while I am there so please look for that.....yes I am committing to a regular blog....agian. Seriously though I am really exicted that this blog is the beginnings of staying connected with all the Roadies serving in that country. Please pray for God's grace on that endevour...and read the blog too!!!
Second is the services times. Following Thanksgiving, starting on the 28th of November we will only be having 1 service @ 10:30 am. We are doing this because everyone has such busy and hectic holiday schedules.
Enjoy your time this holiday and I look forward to seeing all of you in mid-January.
Please check out the schedule below.
Be Blessed,

ATTENTION!

Attention Crossroads Children's Team!
BIG NEWS!
The big news is YOUR SERVICE to God's kingdom!

Listen.....the last couple of weeks I have felt a bit of mundane going around. Almost like Sunday set-up, serve, go to service, tear down has reached an extraordinary level of monotony. I GET THAT.....ME TOO! It's like buying the building will never come.
I understand how service...particularly volunteer service to church could feel a bit mundane. However, I would like to offer a bit of perspective......
God is so big we cannot even really grasp it. I would like to share with you a cool fact I learned from a recent bible study Hollie and I are in. Isaiah 40:22 says God, "stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in". You know how big God and the heavens are.....well I will tell you.

Here on earth we are 93,000,000 miles from the sun. Well imagine that the 93mil miles is equal to the thickness of a stack of paper. Got it....the thickness of 1 stack of paper = 93million miles.
OK, with that in mind from the earth to the nearest star is a stack of paper 71 feet high....with each piece of paper being......that's right 93 million miles.
Now the size of our galaxy is how high......a stack of paper 310 miles high. That's like a stack of paper from Enterprise to Mobile....with each piece of paper representing 93 million miles. That's just the size of our galaxy.
The size of the known universe is equal to a stack of paper 31 million miles high with every piece of piece of paper representing 93 million miles. WHAT!$?!
Last fact...there are more than 10 million sheets of paper in a mile....so if the known universe is as big as 31 million miles high with each mile having 10 million sheets.......AAAggghhhh!
Is your brain hurting yet?

God is so big and mighty. He has CHOSEN to love us and offer us His grace. As we continue on in our service to Him think about how Infinitely Mighty He is and how finitely small we are...yet he chose us to do His handy work. HE CHOSE US to do His handiwork.

That fact alone makes me see how much bigger our mission is than I may see. It makes me want to continue for Him, and want to continue for what Crossroads is doing for Him.

FACT: You guys are the tools and parts of the Crossroads machine that keeps it moving. God bless each of you.

Thanks sooooo much for coming to the children's meeting! I was so blessed to see how many people are hooking up at Crossroads.
I would love an email or reply to this post if you read it. Just send me a quick reply to let me know people are using it. I hope I get 50, yeah...count 50....replies! Throw'em at me. Please let me know you looked at this.
Here is the link to the updated schedule as I told you I would do. I have the schedules printed and the shirts in hand, so stop by this weekend to the Filling Station to see me or Hollie.

You guys rock. I can't say enough. What I can say is that I am so honored by all of your service that Hollie and I have recommitted to putting together the 80's bash at the Annex. Let's do it! Let's get together, dress up in our best 80's garb and rock out!

July and August Schedule

Hello Everyone,
What an amazing past many months we have had at Crossroads!! I love the summer. Actually I am just glad to be here this summer and not in Afghanistan. So much is going on not only at Crossroads but also in the children's ministry. Below is a link with the new schedule. Look for some updates soon to this blog. I have some ideas about how we may all use this blog to stay connected.....but only if we all agree to use it.
Keep up the great work for the Kingdom of God. Serving in children's ministry is such a vital aspect of meaning church. More than any of us probably realize.
Thanks to each of you for being part of it.
Matt

April Calender

Hello All,
I have attached another link to the volunteer calendar. Right now April is the only one I have complete. I will have the May and June settled very soon. The good news is the delay is due to we are switching to the, "Work One, Attend One" concept in the nursery and toddler area. YAY!!!! Praise God that we have enough committed volunteers to implement this. The way this, "Work One, Attend One" works is that each week a team member will have the opportunity to serve and attend service in the main sanctuary. It should be really great.

I will bring the calendars for April, May and June this weekend. Attached to the calendars will be the team roster. Come by and look for your copy.

You are doing such an awesome job in everyway. We definitely have the best children's ministry at Crossroads and this is all because of YOU!

New Calendar

Hello Everyone!

Many things going on at Crossroads and the children's ministry is no exception. In this blog you will see the link to the Serve Crossroads-Kids calendar. Please take a look at the remaining dates for February and March.

Here is the new calendar:
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=matdm%40sw.rr.com&ctz=America/Chicago.

We are starting 2 services this weekend (Feb 21st). As for right now if your name is on the calendar you are serving both services unless you have spoke to Hollie or I directly. That includes set-up and tear down. On that note, it is not our intent to have you serve both services. We will work towards having all team members serve one service and attend another. That way you can have the best of both worlds each weekend. You can hear the Word of God and Do the Word of God! It really does work, so as we continue to receive more team members we will begin to implement this "Work One, Serve One" strategy.

Service times are 9:00 and 10:30.
Showtimes for Nursery and Pre-School will continue to be 0730 for Set-Up. With two services it is critical that we get there ready to go at 7:30. We now have to be ready to serve at 8:45, so time is of the essence. Elementary showtimes will be on a case by case basis with Hollie due to the stage set-up, dance and puppet rehearsals, etc.

Please call or email if you have any questions concerning the schedule, or just for anything at all.
God is doing great things at Crossroads, just watch!

Jan, Feb, Mar 2010

Well, it's a new year and here is the link for the new calendar (Jan, Feb, Mar).

http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=matdm%40sw.rr.com&stz=America/Chicago.

I don't want to post phone numbers on this blog, so please make sure to pick up a phone roster of all our team members when you get a chance. Starting January 3rd, Hollie and I will have the phone rosters as well as printed copies of this schedule available.

My focus for team building early in the year will be creating a set-up team for the children's annex. Being part of this team will not stop a person from missing service, but would require an early Sunday showtime. Keep your eyes peeled for new great team members.

I pray for each of you daily. Crossroads is so blessed to have such a wonderful, experienced, committed team serving it's children. Can't wait to share all the new things coming up for us. I can say this. The first few months of 2010 is going to be great!

Take Care,
Pastor Matt
